Here is a list of official state fish by state. Quite a few states share the same fish. For example, nine states have selected the Brook Trout as their state fish. In contrast, 28 states have chosen a fish that no other state claims. Hawaii’s state fish, the Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa (Reef Triggerfish), is one such example and, not surprisingly, is unique. A few states have designated separate freshwater and saltwater state fish and three states (Iowa, Indiana, and Ohio) do not have a state fish.
